Woman accused of Facebook chatting before a fatal car crash

A Centuria woman is now facing several charges after authorities found that she was sending and receiving Facebook messages before a fatal car crash that killed three children, the Chicago Tribune reported on March 5.

34-year-old Kari Jo Milberg is charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving and three felony counts of homicide in light of a two-vehicle car crash that happened on December 12, 2013 on Wisconsin Highway 35. Records have shown Milberg was chatting on Facebook just before the accident happened. Blood tests also showed Milberg had therapeutic drug levels of oxycodone and a sedative in her system when the accident occurred. Investigators believe that the car’s worn-out tires might have also contributed to the crash.

Inattentive driving, poor road and tire conditions--these and more could factor into an injurious or fatal car crash.
