Brookfield resident Ryan Calkins was recently killed while at work on a construction site at the Zoo Interchange, an article on WISN Milwaukee stated on February 28.
The fatal workplace accident, which occurred near West Allis near the westbound lane of I-94 at the 84th Street exit, is currently under investigation by the Department of Transportation and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as well as other unnamed organizations. Calkins, 33, was an employee for Michels Corp, a contractor that is part of a joint venture at the Zoo Interchange. The accident happened at around 8:00 a.m., although details about the exact occurrence have not been released.
According to the vice president of Michels corp, the company will wait to make an official statement regarding the accident. However, VP Tim Michels stated that the fiance and family of Calkins are in his thoughts in the wake of this tragedy.
