Aurora Products Inc. walnut products recalled over Salmonella

Posted on March 30, 2015 2:28 pm under Defective Food Product

Connecticut-based specialty food product producer Aurora Products Inc. is recalling Natural Walnuts and Trail Mixes that contain walnuts over fears of Salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed on March 27.

The FDA released the list of brands with UPC code and Best If Used By dates that might be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause severe illnesses, especially among vulnerable individuals. The company learned about the possible contamination after one of their walnuts products tested positive for Salmonella during a routine test conducted by a third party.

Consumers are asked to destroy the product or to return it to the store of purchase. They may also contact the company for any queries.

Contaminated food items due to a manufacturer’s negligence pose serious health threats to consumers.
