Specialized Bicycle recalls handlebars over reports of loosened bolt

Posted on April 1, 2015 2:42 pm under Bicycle Accidents

Specialized Bicycle recalls about 8,300 carbon and alloy bicycle handlebars after learning that the bolt used to attach the handle bars could loosen, posing a risk of falling among consumers using it, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission revealed on March 26.

The recalled handlebars were sold individually at authorized Specialized Bicycle dealers across the U.S. and online at specialized.com between November 2011 and February 2015. The company has received four reports of handle bars detaching from the bicycles, although no injury was recorded.

Affected consumers are asked to stop using the product and to contact the company immediately for a free extension mounting hardware replacement.
