Bike hooks recalled over reports of property damage

Iowa-based Waterloo Industries Inc. is recalling approximately 105,000 Husky Securelock Vertical Bike Hooks after receiving reports that the bike hooks can suddenly disengage, possibly causing injuries and property damage, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported on April 15.

The affected hooks are used with a Husky Trackwall garage storage system. A 3 by 3.5 inch metal plate is mounted to the grooves of the Trackwall. The metal plate is then installed with a bike hook where the bike’s tire is attached. The company has received 22 reports of disengagement, 12 of which resulted in property damage.

The recalled products were exclusively sold at Home Depot stores across the country between April 2011 and March 2015. Consumers are advised to return the hooks to any Home Depot store for a full refund.
