Yamaha Motor Corporation has issued a nationwide consumer level recall of 2015 Yamaha Viking VI after learning that the rear wheels of the defective side x side vehicles may wiggle or detach, potentially causing an injurious or even fatal accident, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported on April 14.
According to the report, the affected vehicles have model numbers YXC700DF (Viking VI), YXC700DHFH (Viking VI Hunter), YXC700PF (Viking VI EPS) and YXC700PHFH (Viking VI EPS Hunter) found on the owner’s manual. The VIN, which can be found on the frame behind the car’s left rear wheel, has the letter F in the 10th position, indicating that it is a 2015 model. There are about 3,500 units affected by the recall. The vehicles were sold from June 2014 to March 2015.
Yamaha is currently contacting registered customers affected by the recall, but consumers are encouraged to contact their local Yamaha dealership to schedule a repair free of cost.
