Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams of Columbus, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling all sorbets, frozen yoghurts, ice cream sandwiches, and ice creams after learning about possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported on April 23.
The ice cream maker said it will halt sales of its ice cream products for all containers and flavors until the company is sure that the products are Listeria-free. The products were sold at different retail outlets nationwide and online at jenis.com. All ice cream products with a brand name of “Jeni’s” are covered by the recall.
When exposed to Listeria, healthy people may experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, and severe headaches, among many other short-term symptoms. However, pregnant women exposed to this pathogen may tragically suffer from stillbirths and miscarriages. If you think a contaminated food product has caused you and your family undue harm, do not hesitate to seek legal action.
