A motorcyclist was recently killed in a Barron County accident after his motorcycle crashed into a truck just north of Rice Lake, WEAU reported on May 3.

Reports coming from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department said that at 9:07 p.m., they were notified of an accident involving a truck and motorcycle in the area. Responding authorities later identified the fatality as Luann Bilodeau, 52. Preliminary investigation revealed that Bilodeau was heading east on Highway V when he crashed to a truck moving north on 23rd Street. The truck operator, whose name was not released, failed to see the motorcyclist until it was too late. The truck driver was not hurt in the motorcycle accident.

The accident area was temporarily blocked while crews reconstructed the scene. Authorities are still investigating the fatal crash. The sheriff’s department reiterated the necessity to exercise extreme caution on the roads because motorcyclists come out in greater numbers when the weather begins to improve.
