Kenmore gas ranges recalled over risk of laceration

Posted on May 19, 2015 2:38 pm under Product Liability

A laceration hazard prompted the recall of about 5,300 Sears Kenmore Elite slide-in ranges after receiving one report of a consumer requiring stitches after being cut by a sharp stainless steel edge trim below the range’s control panel, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) stated on May 20.

Gas, electric, and dual fuel types of Sears Kenmore Elite are being recalled by the company. The affected models and serial numbers can be found at the inner left frame when the range door is opened. Recalled products were sold exclusively at different Sears stores nationwide between May 2014 and April 2015. Consumers can contact the company to schedule a free inspection and repair.

Home appliances with a defective design can pose a risk of injury among consumers using it.
