52,000 Viking gas ranges are being recalled after receiving reports of ovens turning on by themselves, which resulted in burn injuries and property damage, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on May 21.
15 model numbers of Viking Range freestanding gas ranges are being recalled by its manufacturer, Viking Range LLC. The affected model and serial number can be located in one of these three places: on the underside of the control panel, on the burner bowl, and on the oven’s inside frame. The company has already received 75 reports associated with the issue, three of which resulted in burns and four in property damage claims.
The recalled ranges were sold at different appliance stores nationwide between July 2007 and June 2014. Affected customers are encouraged not to use the product and to contact the manufacturer for a free in-home repair.
