John Wood oil-fired water heater recalled over fears of catching fire

Posted on June 2, 2015 8:12 am under Product Liability

About 250 50 and 70-gallon John Wood oil-fired water heaters are being recalled over a faulty combustion chamber that may heat the exterior walls of the product rather than the water, posing the risk of fire, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on June 2.

The recall covers 50-gallon and 70 gallon John Wood oil-fired water with model numbers JW517 and JW717, respectively. The affected serial numbers for the 50-gallon water heater range from 1349A021678 to 1503A016643, and 1421M001517 through 436M000040 for the 70-gallon. The products were sold between January 2014 and March 2015 by John Woods sales representatives.

The company has not received any report of damages. Customers are asked to contact the company for a free product inspection and replacement.
