Playwright Shepard apprehended for drunken driving

Well-known playwright and actor Sam Shepard was recently apprehended by New Mexico authorities after he was suspected of driving a vehicle while intoxicated, an article of USA Today reported on May 26.

According to reports, the 71-year-old Pulitzer Prize winner was arrested on May 25 after restaurant security in Santa Fe reported concern over his driving. Shepard admitted to an officer that he drank two tequila drinks. Police Lieutenant Andrea Dobyns noted that the responding officer detected signs of intoxication from Shepard. Shepard, who had a history of drunk driving charge, was taken into custody after failing a sobriety test and avoiding a breathalyzer.
