Vulnerable elders are at high risk of gangrene

Posted on June 16, 2015 2:12 pm under Nursing Home Abuse

Gangrene refers to tissue death due to lack of oxygen. Individuals with cardiovascular disorders or untreated infections are at an increased risk of this disease. Unfortunately, leaving gangrene unmanaged may cause the infection to spread to the bloodstream and to the other parts of the body, causing organ failure and even death.

Vulnerable individuals in nursing homes are at a high risk of contracting gangrene if they are not looked after properly. Because of their limited ability to care for themselves, they would have to depend largely on nursing home aides to keep their body healthy and free from any gangrene-causing infections and cardiovascular illnesses.

Unfortunately, some long term care homes fail to adequately care for their residents, putting these individuals at risk of infections and diseases that may ultimately lead to gangrene and other conditions. At Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ®, we help families in Madison fight for their loved one’s right to justice and compensation from a neglectful nursing home that caused them harm.
