The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that every day, 138 people die due to traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by accidents. The CDC also said TBI accounts for approximately 30% of accident-related fatalities in the country.
TBI is a result of a direct blow or trauma in the head that upsets the brain’s normal functions. The CDC listed the most common causes of TBI in the country between 2006 and 2010, according to prevalence:
