Am I at risk of fibromyalgia?

Posted on July 6, 2015 3:14 pm under Car Accidents

Unlike other musculoskeletal conditions where pain is localized, individuals with fibromyalgia feel pain all over the entire body. Fibromyalgia is usually intermittent, and may also seem to travel throughout the body.

Scientists have yet to discover the exact cause of fibromyalgia. However, they were able to determine the risk factors associated with this condition. You are at an increased risk if:

  • You have a family history of the disease – Fibromyalgia seems to have an autosomal link, and so a family member with disease could indicate that you are at risk
  • You’re female
  • You have suffered from an infection – Certain infections or medical conditions may increase the likelihood of fibromyalgia

A lot of fibromyalgia cases have been associated with post-traumatic stress disorder caused by injurious car crashes. Sadly, fibromyalgia may affect your work and may ultimately compromise your capacity to earn a living. If the car accident you have been involved in has caused you PTSD, fibromyalgia, or any other harm, the team at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® can help you file a legal complaint against the offending party.
