Burn hazard prompts sparkler recall

Posted on July 11, 2015 12:19 pm under Product Liability

Jake’s Fireworks’ Yo Yo Sparklers are being recalled after it was learned that the sparklers have larger flames and burn faster than normal, posing a burn risk to the person holding it, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on July 9.

The company has already received 12 reports linked to the issue, resulting in second and third degree burns. The affected sparklers have the words YOYO Sparklers in the package, with an image of two sparklers burning at the bottom. Approximately 351,500 sparklers are affected by the recall.

The company advised the consumers to refrain from using the product and to contact the company for a full refund.

Burns are not just physically painful; they can also cause unexpected medical costs and loss of hours at work.
