Questions tenants should ask before renting a home

Posted on July 14, 2015 12:14 pm under Premises Liability

Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas that could cause lung cancer when individuals are exposed to it over large amounts and over a prolonged period of time. Contrary to popular beliefs, high radon concentration has been recorded in all U.S. states, and can also affect allkinds of houses: old and new, insulated and  uninsulated, with and without basements.

For tenants, it is important to ask these questions before renting a home:

  • Has the property been tested for elevated radon levels? If yes, how safe is the property?
  • If the house registered a high radon concentration, did the property owner perform the necessary repairs to reduce radon levels?
  • Does the property have radon-resistant features?

Landlords have a duty of care to keep tenants safe while within their premises. To learn more about taking legal action after being harmed because of an unsafe property, consult with our legal team at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ®. Call our Wisconsin office at (414) 271-0900 today.
