Avon is recalling about 27,000 of its nut choppers after learning that the metal tines in the product’s grinding mechanism can break, causing metal fragments to get into chopped foods and pose an injury threat, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on July 15.
The recalled products have the brochure number 978-044 and a product identification number of F3730731 located in the product’s corrugated box packaging. The company has already received seven reports of grinding mechanism breakage, two of which resulted in metal fragments being found in the chopped foods.
The defective nut choppers were sold online and by independent Avon sales representatives nationwide from June 2013 to December 2013. Customers are asked to return the defective product for a refund.
