Wauwatosa, Wisconsin-based Briggs & Stratton Corp. is recalling about 2,800 Briggs & Stratton Simplicity Riding Mowers, Garden Tractors, and Mower Decks after learning that their chute deflector may fail to prevent debris from being expelled, posing the risk of injury due to projectiles, according to a report by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday, July 23.
The model numbers and serial number ranges affected by the recall are detailed on the CPSC website. The product was made available in orange and the size of the affected mower deck is between 44 to 54 inches. The recalled mowers and tractors were sold at different Briggs & Stratton dealers nationwide between August 2014 and May 2015.
Affected customers can contact the nearest Briggs & Stratton dealer for a free scheduled repair.
