The Gus Macker, a co-ed basketball tournament co-chaired by Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® attorney Steve Botzau, is set to take place on August 8 behind the Gateway Technical College in Racine, according to the Journal Times.

Now in its 6th year, the Gus Macker is a 3-on-3 tournament that is expected to draw around 140 teams this time around. A wide range of people participate in the community event, including up-and-coming basketball stars well over 6 feet, as well as 8-year-old children and 60-year-old adults.

Botzau highlighted the important role of volunteers who make this event possible every year. “We have about 100 volunteers this year, from referees to scorekeepers to helping out with registration to working concessions,” he was quoted in the Journal Times. “They are a very important component to this and help make it a great event.”

The Gus Macker brings thousands of fans to the shore of Lake Michigan every year to view the competition, making it one of the most popular events of the summer.
