Breezer Downtown Bicycles recalled due to defective pedal detachment

Advanced Sports International is recalling about 1,700 Breezer Downtown Bicycles after learning that the pedal may detach from the axle and cause injurious crash hazard, the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on Tuesday, August 11.

So far, the company has already received 12 reports of pedal detachment, none of which resulted in injuries. Affected Breezer Downtown Bicycles models are Downtown 3, Downtown 3-ST, Downtown 8, Downtown 8-ST, Downtown EX and Downtown EX-ST. The recalled products were sold in various gloss colors at different Breezer Bicycles dealers nationwide between July 2014 and May 2015.

Consumers are asked to stop using the defective bicycles and contact the company for a pedal replacement at no cost.
