Fall risk prompts the recall of Madewell Sightseer sandals

Posted on August 20, 2015 9:21 am under Product Liability

Madewell Inc. is recalling about 50,600 Madewell Sightseer sandals after receiving reports that the metal shanks of the sandals may dislodge and break out of the outsole, posing fall hazards among its users, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on Thursday, August 20.

The defective sandals belong to the spring 2015 collection, and were made available between February 2015 and July 2015 at different Madewell stores nationwide and online at madewell.com and shopbop.com. The affected style numbers and the names can be found on the CPSC website.

To date, the company has received eight complaints associated with the issue. Consumers are asked to return the recalled product for a complete refund.

Defective footwear such as this could unfortunately result in injurious slip and fall accidents among consumers who use the products.
