Approximately 501,509 pounds of Extra Value Meats Quarter Pound Beef Patties products are being recalled nationwide due to an unlisted food ingredient that may cause adverse reactions in those with an allergy, a report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) stated on Monday, August 31.

The affected products are 1.5 lb. cartons containing six pieces of “EXTRA VALUE MEATS QUARTER POUND BEEF PATTIES” and 1.5 resealable bags containing six pieces of “QUICK SERVE EXTRA VALUE MEATS BEEF PATTIES.” The recalled meat products have an establishment number of “EST. 2591” and a UPC of Item# 79821-00043.

The company learned about the issue after an employee reported that the ingredient monosodium glutamate (MSG) present in the products was not listed on package labeling.
