Approximately 4.1 million bottles of Prestone® Windshield De-Icer and Prestone® Ice & Frost Shield are being recalled by Prestone Products Corporation due to a trigger assembly that is not child-resistant and may detach from the container, posing a risk of poisoning among children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on Thursday, September 3.
The SKU numbers for the recalled products are SKU AS-246 for the Prestone® Windshield De-Icer and SKU AS-247 for the Prestone® Ice & Frost Shield, both of which can be found on the bottom left of the back label. Products covered by the recall were sold at Kroger, AutoZone, Walmart, Pep Boys, O’Reilly’s and Meijer between September 2011 and August 2015.
Customers should check if the trigger assembly can be removed by twisting the neck shroud of the product counter-clockwise. If so, contact the company immediately for a child-resistant replacement trigger assembly.
