Several establishments including homes in Salem County sustained damages from a recent fire caused by a gas explosion, an article from CBS Philly reported on September 15.
Prior to initial investigations, authorities believed the fire that ravaged various properties at the vicinity of Delaware Avenue and Rt. 49 intersection in Pennsville was caused by a gas explosion. Authorities revealed that crews working in the area did not notice a gas leak after accidentally hitting a gas pipe in the area. Though no one was reportedly hurt, police stated that the impact of the blast was felt at a nearby police department. Utility companies also responded to investigate the fire, police stated.
