After being involved in an accident that killed a motorcyclist on Highway 20 in East Troy last week, 19-year-old Andre Carroll has been charged with second-degree reckless homicide, two felony counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and one felony count of operating a vehicle without a valid license in Walworth County Court.
On Saturday, September 12, Carroll was driving his white Chevrolet Traverse on the highway near Division Street when he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. His vehicle then crossed into the westbound lane, where he collided with two motorcycles. One man was pronounced dead at the scene when police and medical services arrived, while his wife and a second man were taken to Froedtert Hospital and Waukesha Memorial Hospital, respectively.
During an interview with police, Carroll revealed that he has never held a valid driver’s license. He stated that he was up late the night before attending a party in Madison. Officers found several empty alcohol containers as well as drug paraphernalia in Carroll’s vehicle. Carroll awaits a court appearance in the Walworth County Jail, where he may be charged with additional crimes depending on the results of a pending toxicology report.
