The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the young man who was killed in a construction accident this past Monday on the Bond Bridge between Duluth and Superior. Kelsey Hagenson, 18, suffered “multiple blunt force injuries due to a pedestrian-forklift mishap,” according to the report. He was transported to a hospital in Duluth where he died about an hour after the accident occurred.
A second construction worker was injured in the same accident, however his identity has not been released and his condition is unknown. Both workers were employees of Lunda Construction based out of Black River Falls, the main contractor for a two-year renovation project for the bridge.
While it has been confirmed that neither worker was operating the forklift at the time of the incident, no other details have been released. The Duluth Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are currently conducting investigations into the circumstances of the accident.
