Dishwashers recalled over fire hazards

Posted on October 7, 2015 3:14 pm under Product Liability

Almost 150,000 dishwashers by Bosch, Gaggenau, Kenmore Elite, and Thermador have been recalled by BSH Home Appliance Corp., according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The units were manufactured from January 2008 to December 2013, and pose a fire hazard as the electrical power cords tend to overheat and catch flame.

Although no injuries have been reported, there have already been ten incidents related to the issue, five of which involved fires that caused property damage. The products were sold nationwide online and at appliance and department stores, builder distributors, and home improvement stores from January 2009 to May 2014.

Anyone who owns one of these defective dishwashers is advised to stop using it immediately and contact the manufacturer right away for information in inspections, repairs, and replacements.
