David Cassidy, former teen idol of The Partridge Family fame, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident on September 30 by the Broward State Attorney’s Office. The accident took place on Sept. 9 on Interstate 595 in Florida. Cassidy, 65, allegedly hit the side of a truck and then attempted to cover his own license plate, which was later discovered to be expired, before fleeing the scene.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Cassidy’s Kia Sportage was moving at a high speed when it switched lanes and sideswiped a delivery truck. The 47-year-old truck driver, Pedro Vargas, suffered minor injuries and was brought to Broward Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

Cassidy’s lawyer, Jason Forman, denied the allegations, saying that the reports were inconsistent and that Cassidy gave his license and registration to the police before leaving the scene.
