Highchairs recalled over fall risk

Posted on October 10, 2015 4:10 pm under Defective Child Care Products

Safety 1st announced a recall on their Décor Wood Highchairs on October 8, according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The tray can be easily removed by a child, posing fall hazards. The company has already received 68 reports of children being able to remove the tray, and 11 of those are reports of injuries including chipped teeth, bruises, and lacerations.

The highchair models being recalled are the HC144BZF Casablanca, HC229CZF Gentle Lace, and HC229CYG Black Lace. The model number is etched under the highchair seat, and has “Safety 1st” printed on the front of the tray.

The products were sold nationwide at Babies R Us and Toys R Us retail stores and online at Amazon.com, BabiesRUs.com, ToysRUs.com, Walmart.com, and several other online retailers. They were sold from May 2013 to May 2015. Consumers are advised to stop the use of highchairs and call the manufacturer to receive a new tray.
