Recreational off-highway vehicles recalled over fire danger

Posted on October 10, 2015 10:08 pm under Product Liability

On October 6, approximately 53,000 units of Polaris Industries’ 2015 RZR recreational off-highway vehicles were recalled because of a fire hazard posed by the vehicle, due to the fuel tank vent line misrouting and becoming pinched.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website listed all of the models being recalled, and the complete list is available at Polaris’ website.

Polaris had already received four reports of the RZR 900s with fuel leaks and two of those involved the vehicle catching on fire. One of those fire reports resulted in an individual suffering minor burns. Meanwhile, the company received 25 cases of fuel leaks for the RZR 1000s, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Owners of said recalled vehicles are advised to terminate the use of the product immediately and contact Polaris to schedule a free repair. The company has been directly contacting and sending recall letters to each registered owner.
