Female driver safe after gas pedal jammed in Green Bay

A 16-year-old female was unharmed when the gas pedal of the vehicle she was driving got stuck after she pulled onto Packerland Drive on Tuesday, October 6.

Olivia Crooks reportedly heard a cracking sound inside the vehicle she was driving and realized that her gas pedal was stuck in an engaged position. Olivia’s vehicle continued to run at about 60 mph even while she was attempting to engage the brake pedal.

Thinking quickly, the teenager called 911 and reached dispatcher Julia Robak. Robak instructed Olivia to shift into a neutral gear, at which point Olivia’s vehicle finally slowed enough for her to exit uninjured. A “piece of plastic” apparently broke inside the vehicle and became lodged in the mechanisms, causing the gas pedal to stick, according to Olivia’s mother.
