According to an announcement posted on October 9th on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website, Skipanon Brand Seafood LLC has voluntarily recalled all of its canned products due to the possible contamination from Clostridium botulinum. This bacteria may cause life-threatening illness or even death. Some common symptoms of botulinum are double-vision, muscle weakness, dizziness, difficulty speaking or swallowing, and general weakness.
The products were sold nationwide through Skipanon Brand’s website and to wholesalers and retailers in Nevada, Michigan, Washington, and Oregon. Products were sold until September 2015 and have codes starting with “OC.”
Consumers are advised to avoid consumption of these products even when they do not smell or look unpleasant. Consumers who are experiencing the symptoms mentioned above should immediately consult a doctor.
