Mold-exposed gaming headset recalled

Posted on October 26, 2015 2:37 pm under Product Liability

Turtle Beach announced the recall of almost 60,000 units of their Ear Force gaming headsets after finding mold spores on the product. Molds may lead to respiratory issues and other infections in people with chronic health problems, according to the U.S. CPSC.

No injuries have been reported yet, but Turtle Beach has received six complaints of mold spores in the headsets. The recalled product is the Ear Force® XO FOUR Stealth gaming headset and includes units that can be identified by the serial numbers, containing denotations between C16 and C25, printed on the inside of the headband. The product is packaged with an audio adapter, includes soft ear-cups, and is colored black with green trim.

The recalled units were sold nationwide from June 2015 to September 2015 in stores at Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Walmart, and online at amazon.com. Consumers should return the headset with the box and other components and call Turtle Beach for a free replacement.
