A 24-year-old man from Osceola, Wisconsin died on October 24 at around 7 p.m. after the Dodge Durango he was riding in drove off into a ditch and then onto Wisconsin 64. According to the St. Croix County District Court, the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The 25-year-old driver of the Durango was wearing a seat belt and survived the crash. According to authorities who investigated the scene, the driver of the SUV was driving under the influence of alcohol, and she admitted to drinking five beers and one shot of liquor prior to the accident. She was charged with homicide by the intoxicated use of a vehicle, which has a minimum jail time of 15 years.
