Bicycle trailers recalled over risks of injury

Posted on November 10, 2015 2:00 pm under Product Liability

Burley Design LLC issued a nationwide recall of their child bicycle trailers on October 28. The company received 35 incident reports that included the trailers’ black plastic tow bar detaching. Two of those cases involved children sustaining abrasions. The trailers can be attached to the cyclist’s bicycle to tow children behind.

The trailers are connected to the bicycles via tow bar. The recalled trailers were sold in sporting goods and bike shops nationwide and were manufactured from 2009 to 2015.

Consumers are advised by the company to call them to receive a free safety strap kit, including tools and instructions for installation, and a 20% discount on any Burley purchase. If the black tow bars seem cracked or damaged, consumers may request a free replacement.

When a negligent manufacturer creates a product that endangers children, the consequences can be especially horrible. Fortunately, families who are affected by a defective product may be able to recover compensation for any medical issues they face as a result.
