Wrong-way driver causes accident

Posted on November 10, 2015 1:53 pm under Car Accidents

A 30-year-old man was reported for driving on the wrong way near Nicolet Drive on Highway 57 late in the evening of November 7. A little while later, the same vehicle, still going the wrong way on HW 57, was involved in a head-on crash with another vehicle near Algoma Road. Police said that the driver of the second vehicle was sitting beside his car and that he did not sustain any injuries. It was reported that his car flipped over.

The wrong-way driver was found inside his vehicle and reportedly sustained serious injuries. He was brought to a nearby hospital and was later identified as a resident of New Franken.

The highway’s southbound lanes were closed for three hours following the accident. Police reported that the wrong-way driver was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
