Plover crash kills one

Plover Police Chief Dan Ault has issued a statement saying that a 49-year-old man from Stevens Point was killed on Monday, November 2, at around 8 p.m. when his 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt collided with a 58-year-old woman’s Jeep Grand Cherokee.

According to reports, the woman was driving her 2011 Grand Cherokee west on Highway 54-Plover Road when the man pulled into her path from Grand Avenue in his 2008 Cobalt and was struck by her vehicle. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles at the time of the crash.

The emergency response crew had to extricate the man from his vehicle; unfortunately, his injuries were too great and he was unable to recover.

Several different agencies were present to assist at the scene, including the Plover Fire Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Plover EMS, the Portage County Traffic Incident Management Team, the Portage County Ambulance Service, and the Portage County Coroner’s Office.

Plover Police Department said that the accident will remain under investigation.
