A woman has been arrested and cited for misdemeanor charges after striking a child on a bicycle and leaving the scene of the accident, according to local news sources.

Reports said 24-year-old Beloit resident Amber Mayfield was arrested when officers were able to track her vehicle after she left the scene of an accident in which she struck a child on a bicycle with her vehicle, leaving the young victim with minor injuries.

Police stated that they had footage of Mayfield abandoning the child after the accident, which occurred near McKinley and Madison. Authorities were able to locate Mayfield later, and issued citations for misdemeanor charges, including hit-and-run.
