SpaghettiOs recalled due to choking risk

Posted on November 21, 2015 8:20 pm under Product Liability

The US Food and Drug Administration announced on November 12 that Campbell Soup Company had recalled about 355,000 units of 14.2 ounce cans of SpaghettiOs Originals over a possible choking hazard from pieces of plastic. The presence of plastic material in the soup was the result of part of the can lining peeling off unexpectedly.

The recalled products have a UPC code of 51000 22432 printed below the bar code and have a stamped date of February 22, 2017 on the base of the can.

The recalled cans should not be consumed, and consumers are encouraged to return the product to the original store of purchase for a full refund or an exchange.

Choking hazards are not to be taken lightly, as they can lead to serious injuries and even death. In cases like this, it’s important that negligent manufacturers are held accountable for the unnecessary risk to which they exposed consumers.
