Bloomberg Business reported on December 5 that Ford Motor Co. is set to recall about 452,000 cars belonging to the 2010 and 2011 model years of the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. Approximately 412,000 units of those were sold in the United States. The fuel tanks of the said models were discovered to be cracking and leaking, which may pose fire and burn hazards to the consumers.
The manufacturer said that there were customer reports in July regarding fuel odors and leaks in the 2010 Fusion.
Based on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s notice, the Michigan-based Ford Motor Co. stated that they will not charge customers should the car parts need replacement.
