Approximately 10,800 units of the Genesis Coupe 2013 to 2015 models sold in the United States were recently recalled by Hyundai. The recall will begin January of next year following the discovery that the differential was misaligned, which may lead to the loosening of the bolts and may cause the driveshaft to completely disconnect. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the faulty driveshaft may eventually lead to complete loss of power in the steering wheel, resulting in collisions.
The recalled cars only involved the ones with a six-speed manual transmission. The units affected were manufactured from December 28, 2011 until April 6, 2015.
Hyundai advised car owners to take their Genesis Coupes to their local dealers for investigation to ensure that the differential was properly assembled.
