Posted on December 22, 2015 4:39 pm under Wrongful Death

On December 21, a 51-year-old man from Sobieski was killed after he was struck by a white GMC driven by Joe Anderson, a 35-year-old man from Pulaski, on County Highway S in Little Suamico.

According to Michael Jansen, Oconto County’s sheriff, the 51-year-old man was walking westbound on the correct side of the road, facing oncoming traffic. Apparently, Anderson struck the man with his vehicle and fled the scene. Police officers found the victim’s body in a ditch the following morning.

An anonymous tip to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office led the deputies to the suspect. It was reported that Anderson was searching for replacement parts for his white GMC, and his pickup truck matched the description of the vehicle in question. Anderson was contacted at his residence by the deputies and was later taken into police custody.
