Appleton crash leaves man in critical condition

On December 24, a 31-year-old man from Appleton was left in critical condition after a head-on collision near the intersection of Capital Drive and Ballard Road occurred at around 1:45 in the morning.

According to the Appleton Police Department officers, a vehicle was headed east on Capital Drive while in the westbound lane when it crashed head-on with a second vehicle that was also driving in that lane.

The man was taken to Theda Clark Medical Center and is listed in critical condition, according to Theda Care spokesperson Megan Mulholland. The driver of the other vehicle, a 37-year-old woman from Freedom was brought to Appleton Medical Center for treatment and has since been released.

The crash remains under the investigation of the Appleton Police with the assistance of the Appleton Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
