On December 23, a 54-year-old man from Iron River was killed as a result of a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 2 near Crooked Lake Road at around 11:50 a.m. According to police responders, the 54-year-old man driving the pickup truck was traveling westbound on the highway before he lost control of the vehicle, slid out of his lane, and drove straight into the eastbound lane, where he collided with a 2002 Peterbilt semi tractor trailer that was driven by Bryan Brasch, a 31-year-old man also from Iron River.

According to a report from the Ashland Daily Press, the 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 31-year-old truck driver did not sustain any injuries in the crash.

The investigation showed that both drivers were wearing seat belts, and neither of the two was under the influence of alcohol.
