Pool lifts recalled due to fall risks

Posted on December 29, 2015 3:47 pm under Product Liability

S.R. Smith LLC recalled approximately 1,800 units of their Splash! products and 40 units of PAL Hi/Lo and Spa Lifts due to a tendency for the welds that secure the lift base plate and mast to break. The company has learned of two cases in which the lift fell because of inadequate base plate welds. One of the two reports involved a consumer falling off the chair, although no injuries were reported.

The recalled pool access lift includes: the Splash! model manufactured between January 2013 and September 2015; PAL Hi/Lo lifts under the model numbers 250-0000, 250-0005, and 250-0005K; and the PAL Spa model 275-0000 made from December 2014 until September 2015.

S.R. Smith encouraged consumers to stop using the recalled product and contact them right away for base replacements and/or mast assembly.
