The Green Bay Press Gazette reported that three people died following a car accident near Denmark on December 31. According to authorities at the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, two men from De Pere, ages 21 and 22, were traveling northbound on County NN near State 96 when they lost control of their vehicle, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and ended up sideways in front of an oncoming minivan, which was carrying a 63-year-old man from Denmark and his 59-year-old wife. The two young men from De Pere were pronounced dead at the scene.

The minivan burst into flames after the crash, and an off-duty Brown County sheriff’s deputy was able to extricate the couple from the vehicle. The 63-year-old man was brought to a hospital in Green Bay, where he later died. The 59-year-old woman was also brought to the same Green Bay hospital, where she remained in critical condition after sustaining significant injuries.

The reason for the crash is still under investigation.
