Violation of federal standard prompts BMX recall

Posted on January 27, 2016 8:45 pm under Product Liability

According to a notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Taiwan-manufactured Stolen series BMX bicycles were recalled by Quality Bicycle Products Inc. on January 13. Apparently, these bicycles did not meet the federal standard for bicycles, and the front wheel is prone to detaching because of an improperly fitting retention washer. This default could result in fall and injury risks to the consumer.

One incident has already been reported to the company, although no injuries have been reported as of yet. The recalled bicycles include a total of 1,000 units of the models Stolen Agent 16CB, Stolen Agent 16FW, Stolen Compact, Stolen Casino, and Stolen Stereo.

People who purchased these specific models are encouraged to return the bicycles to the place of purchase for a free inspection and a free replacement.
