On January 28, RNG Group Inc. issued a recall of its Renogy 100-watt bendable solar panels due to the product’s tendency to overheat and harm consumers through fire and burn injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. It was reported that 1,500 units of the product were affected by the recall. There have already been eleven reports of the product overheating, with three cases of property damage, although no personal injuries were reported.
The recalled solar panels are black plastic sheets that measure 41″ long by 21″ wide by 1/8″ thick. The model number, RNG-100DB, is located on the top of the panel.
RNG encouraged consumers to stop using the dangerous product and contact them for free replacements instead.
