Food storage container recalled over breaking glass

Posted on February 11, 2016 2:14 pm under Product Liability

On January 28, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice regarding the recall of green sprouts® glass food cubes by i play., inc. The storage cubes apparently fracture or break unexpectedly, which could lead to serious cuts or other injuries as the containers are made from glass products. The CPSC and the recalling company have already been notified of 23 incidents associated with the defective food container, although no injuries have been reported yet.

An estimated 68,000 units of the products sold at Buybuy Baby and Whole Foods nationwide were included in the recall. The glass food cubes come in a set of four with rubberized lids, according to CPSC. The complete recall information is provided on the CPSC website.

The company is encouraging consumers to stop using the glass food containers and contact them for coupons.
